What was happening?
While analyzing the complexities of current digital identity and the problems associated to it, the need for a product that would help users take control of their information and digital identity arose. Born and modeled after specific, personal scenarios that the founders had encountered, Yorba was an initial idea that needed a lot of definition to become a valuable project and evolve from a clear goal, to a tool to empower people.
Role and goals
My role and main goal during the project revolved around consolidating the initial idea pitch that had been created for Yorba. The main question to solve was: How to create a simple experience that would empower users to clean their digital space and reclaim their online information. In order to accomplish this task, I worked on the initial user persona definition, as well as defining critical features for the initial version and working through all the user flows to model the experience. Afterwards, I worked on defining the visual style and the style guide of the product.

How I gave value to the project
I was an integral part of the conceptualization, definition and consolidation of the project. As a leader, I was able to follow the product through all its stages and re-align whenever it was losing perspective and value for users. Whenever this happened, I would re-evaluate the main features that were defined for that specific phase of the project, test it and work with the implications of those tests to improve the product.

The bottom line
After a very extensive design and development process, Yorba launched its private Beta in August 2023 with both private and public users. The product and the team were invited to speak at the event “Startup Lisbon”, and it’s currently on the way of its public release. Using a lean UX approach, we were able to build the most valuable features of the product in a very short time, while ensuring that we were providing the most amount of value.
